Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > Sat in the heart of Brisbane's South Bank Parklands sits this beautiful Pagoda. Called the Nepalese Peace Pagoda, it is a remnant from when the World Expo was held here in 1988. As the Expo was ending, Brisbane residents petitioned to keep it in the city. Currently it sits next to the 'Brisbane Eye' showing a nice fusion of east and west. All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > Every year during the Brisbane festival there is loads of cool stuff going on. The photographers favourite is definately the 'City Of Lights'. It's a 15 minute laser light show where the buildings of the city are the cast!. All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > Under the freeway bridge leading to Brisbane city. I had got up at 4am hoping to grab a sunrise however storm clouds had covered most of the light. No problem, the cloud was dramatic enough to make up for it! All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > I was at the base of the brand new 111 Eagle street tower taking shots of the buildings in to the sky. All of a sudden I heard a tapping and turned to see that a security guard from the building was calling me over through the glass. "Here we go again, the tripod police telling me I can't shoot the building because I may be a terrorist" I thought. To my surprise he said "you will get better shots from the top you know". A long story short, he was bored and so took me up to the roof so I could get the best view of Brisbane. Surreal. All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > I stood in the city and I looked up. All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > Set among skyscrapers and brand new buildings, St Stephens Cathedral is a stark contrast with its really nice brick built architecture. All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > Just another amazing sunset in beautiful Brisbane. We seem to get these most evenings over summer. Blessed indeed. All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > This is my first spring in Brisbane and my first time witnessing jacaranda blossom. I love it. The violet happens to be my favourite colour and they are everywhere. If I had it my way they would be blossoming all year round. All images creative commons non commercial
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > This Jacaranda tree is lit green by night, adding colour to the concrete jungle. All images creative commons non commercial.
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > The ever reliable Thornton Street Ferry at sunset. A familiar sight for people who live on Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. All images creative commons non commercial.
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > The Kurilpa Bridge in Brisbane is apparently the worlds largest solar powered bridge. I believe the solar power is used to light the bridge at night. It's an interesting design which to me looks like a long metal sail boat. On this afternoon the sun lined up perfectly with the end of the bridge. All images creative commons non commercial.
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > A shot of the 3 largest towers on Eagle st in Brisbane City. The curved structure is an architectural feature of the river boardwalk I was standing on. All images creative commons non commercial.
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > Brisbane's usual fiery sunset by the Pacific Motorway that runs alongside the city. All images creative commons non commercial. www.ashmolephotography.com
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > Blue hour is a beautiful time to take photographs. Even more so if you are in Brisbane by the river! All images creative commons non commercial. www.ashmolephotography.com
Ben Ashmole (ashmolephotography) > I have absolutely no idea why the clouds came out with this pink colour after the long exposure. I'm not complaining though I think it looks great. A shot from the 'Go Between Bridge' from Southbank in Brisbane. All images creative commons non commercial. www.ashmolephotography.com
